Australian scientists have developed a pair of anti-shark wetsuits that make divers appear invisible by camouflaging their bodies in the sea and trick sharks into thinking surfers are poisonous. A team of researchers from the University of Western Australia joined forces with designers from Shark Attack Mitigation Systems (SAMS) to create the suits. The blue pattern of the Elude suit can’t be seen by the shark because the fish are colour blind. While the stripes on the Diverter suit mimic the colours of poisonous fish to warn the sharks off.
YOU SEE THIS IS FANTASTIC. THIS IS WHAT WE NEED TO DO. NOT KILL SHARKS BECAUSE THEY’RE CURIOUS AND ATTACK US. WE’RE IN THEIR WATERS. WE’RE MAKING THEIR HUNTING GROUNDS SMALLER.
LOOK FAB. SAVE SHARKS.
I’m confused, could someone please explain what the letters stand for?
Those letters all stand for something and pretty much sums up a whole personality, to put it in simple terms. You can read profiles about the different types here, and you can take the test here^^
Last week a 3 month old Siberian Husky puppy checked into the boarding kennels at the clinic where I work. She spent the first few days being VERY scared; cowering in the corner of her kennel, growling, shying away from being touched, etc. Granted I don’t really blame her… She probably felt like a 5 year old human would feel away from mom in a hotel full of strangers.
Having worked with a few shy dogs at my shelter job, I did all the textbook stuff to make her feel comfortable; sat near her but no too near as to corner her, didn’t look her in the eye, kept a low body posture, talked softly, tossed treats, etc. She didn’t respond too much other than to not growl at me and not cower when I reached into her kennel to fill her food bowl.
Today I started the same routine, did all the usual steps to make sure she didn’t feel threatened, only this time when I opened her kennel, the first thing she did was play bow to me before jumping in my lap. I started to gently scratch her back and rub behind her ears, and she responded by licking my face and snuggling in close to me.
YES! HUMAN HAS PASSED PUPPY TEST AND IT IS NOW TIME FOR SNUGGLE REWARD!
I spent the rest of the day smiling.
